NetHood is about bridging the virtual with the physical space. It is about bringing together researchers and practitioners from social sciences, urban planning, and computer science to answer the following question:
Can wireless technology, peer-to-peer systems and social software help to build sustainable and convivial neighbhorhood communities?
For the moment, you can check some starting points and two recent presentations at
T-Labs networking lecture series and
aesop 2009.
We are a small group of researchers and we have just written some first ideas on paper.
NetHood is a new project and we are not yet sure how it will evolve. It could become just a portal to interesting ideas and projects all over the world, a place for collaborative research and experimentation on social software tools, a hybrid online community itself, or everything at the same time.
We are brainstorming about these different possibilities and gathering material at our studio.
We would be very happy to receive your suggestions and feedback. Keep in touch :-)
